This diptych collage was created to emphasize the double standard and commodification of Black and Brown women within media. This is intentionally supposed to looked collaged and pasted together to show the change in context and how some aspects of Black and Brown women are portrayed as sexy when presented upon a white women or someone who aligns more with the Eurocentric standard of beauty. It also addressed the topics like appropriation and the gaze. There are many women that I could have chosen instead of Kim Kardashian, but she and her sisters are contemporary pop culture icons so I chose her as a mode of being more accessible to viewers today.
