Though these women may not seem to connect at first glance (besides their first name and being women), they connect because of their struggle and I wanted to put them to address the added layer of intersectionality within womanhood such as being a Black woman, Hispanic woman, transgender, etc.

I chose this excerpt from Judith Butler to really tie the two together and talk about how some problematic ideals that women adapt are due to oppression and how being a minority and having different "intersections" is wearing and how a lot of the mistreatment/ unfair treatment diminishes these women and what they have to contribute and aims to promote assimilation.
